Releasing Boundary Guilt

I hear a lot of people describe that they feel “mean” setting a healthy boundary. Here’s a little reminder that that’s not an accurate thought.

Now- we can definitely be unskillful in how we set a boundary and we may want to examine that- but setting healthy boundaries alone- the things we put in place to protect ourselves - doesn’t mean we’re “mean”.

If you feel this way, it may be worthwhile to be curious about how boundaries were treated growing up. Often times, people whose families had trouble respecting boundaries- feel guilty or mean setting a helpful/healthy boundary.

It’s always nice to meet our judgments with curiosity.

What are your thoughts?
