Your Feelings Are Valid! Don’t Qualify Your Emotions

Take up more space! Please!

I catch myself qualifying my feelings all the time. “I’m a little bit upset” or “I just wanted to say.” Thankfully I’m at a place where I catch it (most of the time!) when it’s happening and correct my language on the spot.

I think working with this process is

  1. Creating awareness around when we’re doing it. Catching it, and

  2. Learning to take a deep breath and eliminate the qualifiers (unless they accurately represent how you’re feeling!).

It’ll be uncomfortable- because doing new things always is. But that doesn’t mean it’s wrong, or you should stay small.

Sit with that for a while.

What are your thoughts? How do you qualify your feelings?
