The roots of belief

The beliefs we have about ourselves carry a lot of history.

They often stem from messages we were given about ourselves when we were very young. Because we were so young, we took these messages as truths and they can become lifelong friends (or enemies).

If the belief works against us, interferes with living a full and happy life- it might be worthwhile investigating where it developed. This simple exploration is profound because in asking, we are creating distance from the belief and poking holes in its veracity.

We develop more understanding and compassion for ourselves that opens the door to starting to develop new, stronger, and healthier beliefs about ourselves. Just recognizing that so much of what we hold to be true about ourselves comes from other people is huge.

If you’re working through hard beliefs- I’m sending you a lot of love.
